چکیده

Analysis of ego-networks is a critical research problem when analyzing large-scale social networks, as an ego-network represents the social circle a person actually contacts with. One of the core tasks in egonetwork analysis is visual comparison, which includes edge comparison and node comparison. Although various works have been done to support comparing normal networks and ego-networks, intuitive node comparison of two ego-networks is still challenging. In this article, we propose egoComp, an intuitive and expressive visualization technique, to analyze the node difference between two ego-networks. To preserve the latent structure of ego-network and lay emphasis on intuitiveness, our design is node-link-based (radial tree layout) and uses a side-by-side method to compare ego-networks. We design a novel storyflow-like graph layout to reveal the relationship of two ego-networks at the individual node level. Furthermore, three different layout algorithms, including origin, greedy, and assignment algorithms, are proposed to meet different user requirements. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our system through case studies and a user study and then discuss the limitations thoroughly as well as the possible solutions and potential future work.

Link Prediction using Network Embedding based on Global Similarity

Background: The link prediction issue is one of the most widely used problems in complex network analysis. Link prediction requires knowing the background of previous link connections and combining them with available information. The link prediction local approaches with node structure objectives are fast in case of speed but are not accurate enough. On the other hand, the global link predicti...

A Rssi Based Localization Algorithm for WSN Using a Mobile Anchor Node

Wireless sensor networks attracting a great deal of research interest. Accurate localization of sensor nodes is a strong requirement in a wide area of applications. In recent years, several techniques have been proposed for localization in wireless sensor networks. In this paper we present a localization scheme with using only one mobile anchor station and received signal strength indicator tec...

Estimating Reliability in Mobile ad-hoc Networks Based on Monte Carlo Simulation (TECHNICAL NOTE)

Each system has its own definition of reliability. Reliability in mobile ad-hoc networks (MANET) could be interpreted as, the probability of reaching a message from a source node to destination, successfully. The variability and volatility of the MANET configuration makes typical reliability methods (e.g. reliability block diagram) inappropriate. It is because, no single structure or configurat...

Link Formation in Egocentric Networks: Impacts of Local Degrees and Implications for Link Recommendation

Understanding mechanisms driving link formation in social networks is a long-standing problem that has implications to understanding social structure as well as link prediction and recommendation. Social networks exhibit a high degree of transitivity, which explains the successes of common neighbor-based methods for link prediction. In this paper, we examine mechanisms behind link formation fro...

Multipath Node-Disjoint Routing with Backup List Based on the AODV Protocol

In recent years, routing has been the most focused area in ad hoc networks research. On-demand routing in particular, is widely developed in bandwidth constrained mobile wireless ad hoc networks because of its effectiveness and efficiency. Most proposed on-demand routing protocols are built and relied on single route for each data session. Whenever there is a link disconnection on the active ro...
